An innovation center for a health industry leader.

Health as the Centerpiece of Collaboration.

As a global leader in infection prevention products and solutions, PDI, a family company based in New Jersey, idenified a 80’s era building as the location for its new headquarters and innovation center. As part of the initial design concept and branding team, we collaborated with the interior design group to bring this unique combination of demonstration center, workplace, and development laboratories to life.

Key to the concept was daylight- the base building had extensive skylights that offered both opportunities and challenges. With health as a centerpiece of the design brief, abundant natural light is beneficial, while its potential glare was a clear liability. A complex louver system dispersed and scattered light, softening it while subtly echoing the fiber and weave of one of the company’s flagship products: wipes.

Lower levels house development labs where light can be carefully controlled, and integrated throughout is brand messaging, iconography, art, and state of the art fitness, cafe, and demonstration areas. The end result is a collaborative environment that doesn’t just pay lip service to well-being, it provides a mechanism in which both employees and visitors can thrive.
